Local bands at the Scotties

The Scotties Tournament of Hearts will offer more entertainment than just curling when it opens next Saturday in Penticton.

The HeartStop Lounge, located at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, will be the post-draw entertainment spot for the weeklong tournament, featuring a lineup of local and B.C. musical performers.

Larger bands were chosen for the opening Saturday and closing weekend evenings, and smaller acts will take the stage midweek.

The lounge will also feature a dance floor, bar and the opportunity to run into some of the tournament athletes face-to-face.

It is open to both ticket holders and the general public.

"Lots of people just come to enjoy the lounge without even seeing any curling," said Melanie Marshall, marketing coordinator for Curling Canada.

The week’s full lineup is as follows:

  • Saturday, Jan. 27: One 2 Many Band, a seven-piece Penticton band covering rock songs.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 30 and Wednesday, Jan. 31: Petunia, a Vancouver solo acoustic Johnny Cash tribute act.
  • Thursday, Feb. 1: Yardkatz, a local rock cover band.
  • Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday Feb. 3: Side One, an eight-piece wedding and corporate party band from Vancouver.
