Gallery: Ice rescue training

The Penticton Fire Department braved the icy waters of the Okanagan Lake marina Friday morning for ice rescue training.

Local fire crews hold a similar training sessions each year, with members taking turns being rescued by their colleagues or pulling a dummy out of the lake. Dry suits protect the firefighters from the frigid water.

Photographer Mike Biden was there to capture Friday's session.

The Penticton Fire Department responds to about two ice rescues a year, often an animal stuck on the ice, but occasionally a car that has driven into the lake.
