More Glenmore townhomes

Kelowna city council has paved the way for another significant development in the Glenmore Village Centre area.

The 52-unit townhouse development along the Valley Road corridor just north of Kane Road, is the latest in a series of developments either approved, or under construction within the area.

These include a 111-unit development at Kane and Valley roads, the Grove townhouse development, and a second townhouse project across from Dr. Knox middle school plus the Memory Care facility.

This new development is also across from what will become the Glenmore Recreation Park, which is currently under construction.

City planner Terry Barton told council one of the key components to the development is the extension of Glenpark Drive.

Barton said the road will eventually connect the new neighbourhood on Drysdale Boulevard with Valley Road.

While the developer is only required to build out the road extension on its particular property, Barton said they are in discussions with another developer who owns an adjacent property about working together to extend the road.

He added the developer will also be required to widen Valley Road in order to allow for the addition of a left-hand turn bay for easier access and egress from the development.

The project, which will include 11 two and three storey townhouses, received unanimous council approval.
