Property inventory ordered

Penticton city council has ordered staff to prepare a full inventory of the city’s real estate assets.

The motion from Coun. Andre Martin directs staff to identify properties designated for future infrastructure needs, park lands, possible park expansion and properties with development potential.

Martin said the discussion around the performing arts centre proposed for Ellis St. last month demonstrated the need for the inventory.

“Senior staff raised the issue that there was no clear direction on that property,” he said. “There is a window right now for development, so if there is an opportunity for us, we need to take advantage of that.”

Mayor Andrew Jakubeit noted that such an inventory has been on the city’s to-do list for some time now.

The report is due for council on Feb. 6, 2018.
