Vernon

Lights! Camera! Action!

Hollywood has once again set up shop in Vernon.

A field off of Commonage Road near the Allan Brooks Nature Centre has been turned into a movie set for the Second World War film Peace.

Crews have erected several small and large army tents, brought in vintage army vehicles and dressed people as Second World War troops.

Filming of the movie will take place in several locations throughout the North Okanagan.

Rick Dugdale, of Enderby Entertainment, scouted several locations, including some in Europe, before deciding to make the movie in the North Okanagan.

“The area is perfect for it. It looks just like parts of Italy,” said Dugdale.

The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Richard Bausch where four American soldiers set out on the gruelling ascent of an Italian mountainside in the closing days of the Second World War, haunted by their evil sergeant's cold-blooded murder of a young woman and with an old Italian man of uncertain loyalties as their guide.

Alexander Ludwig, who had a prominent role in the TV series Vikings stars in the production. Ludwig was also in Swerve, Hunger Games and Blackway.

Blackway was another production by Dugdale that was filmed near his home town of Enderby.

Blackway also starred Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles and Ray Liotta and is a tale of an ex-logger who comes to the aid of a woman who returns to her hometown in the Pacific Northwest and finds herself harassed and stalked by a former cop turned crime lord.
