85 kilometres of cycling

The City of Vernon’s cycling network has grown to over 85 killometres of multi-use paths, trails, and on-road bike lanes following two construction projects this year, including phase one of the Kalamalka Lake Road multi-use path and the continuation of improvements on 30th Street.

And more projects are expected.

“We are on the cusp of a big change as major connections are planned for our cycling network in the next two years,” said Mayor Akbal Mund. “You will be able to ride from Coldstream to the Village Green Centre entirely on a separated path.”

Residents are invited to learn more about the plans, including the next phase of 30th Street improvements, by attending the 2018 capital projects open house at the Vernon Recreation Centre, 3310 - 37 Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 5-7 p.m.

“Residents and businesses will have the opportunity to the review the capital projects scheduled for 2018 and discuss the designs and impacts with the project teams,” according to a city press release.

Residents and business owners who are not able to attend the meeting but would like more information can contact the infrastructure management department at 250-550-3634 or go online.
