Langley school locked down

A high school in the Lower Mainland has been locked down after a report of man with a gun.

Langley RCMP responded to Brookswood Secondary School Wednesday afternoon shortly after 2 p.m. for a report of a male in the east field possibly in possession of a firearm.

Cpl. Holly Largy said initial reports were not first-hand information, so the school was locked down immediately.

“Many Langley officers attended the school, established a perimeter and began searching the area,” said Largy.

When the lockdown ended, Mounties entered the school to conduct a further search. The investigation is expected to take some time, and parents waiting to pick up students are asked not to enter the school.

As of 3:20 p.m., police said there was no evidence to indicate an armed person had entered the building. There were no reports of injuries or violent acts.
