Warriors snap road skid

The West Kelowna Warriors finally won a game away from Royal LePage Place.

The Warriors made the day-long trek to Prince George Saturday, following a disheartening shellacking at the hands of the Penticton Vees, and doubled up on the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-2.

Prior to the win, the Warriors had lost seven straight on the road.

The Warriors built a 4-0 lead before the Spruce Kings scored  pair in the third to spoil Cole Demers' bid for a second shutout of the season.

Michael Ryan and Willie Reim each had a goal and an assist to pace the Warriors attack. RJ Murphy and Jared Marino also scored for the Warriors.

Chase Dubois picked up a pair of helpers.

The game was scoreless for nearly two full periods until Ryan broke the goose egg with his third of the season at 17:29 of the middle period.

The Warriors broke the game open with three goals in three-and-a-half minutes to open the third.

Murphy made it 2-0 just 29 seconds into the third, before Reim tallied what stood up as the game winner 90 seconds later on the power play

Marino close out the Warriors scoring four minutes in.

Dustin Manz on the power play, and Kyle Johnson in the dying seconds scored for the Spruce Kings.

Demers stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced to earn the win.

The win was key for the Warriors, who kept pace with Penticton and Wenatchee in the Interior Division, after both those teams won as well Saturday.

All three have 31 points, however the Vees and Wild hold four, and three games in hand respectively.

The Warriors are off until the weekend when they host the Merritt Centennials Friday and the Vernon Vipers Saturday.
