SilverStar to open for Nordic

All that early snow has been a bonus for skiers.

SilverStar Mountain Resort has announced that it will open its Nordic skiing, fat biking and snowshoeing this coming Friday, Nov. 17th, a day earlier than scheduled.

All of the resort's upper trails will be open and machine groomed while 90 per cent of the lower trails will be available. The trails will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Down the mountain, Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre has already open.

SilverStar Mountain Resort and Sovereign Lake are said to have Canada’s largest daily groomed cross-country trail network, with 105 km of rolling terrain and trails.

“We’re excited to be opening the doors early on cross-country skiing,” says Shane Landreville, the resort's Nordic programs manager. “The industry is experiencing increased participation with baby boomers and under 35s recognizing the social and health benefits more than ever before.”

Currently, the resort's planned Alpine opening day remains Thursday, Nov. 23rd.
