Kettles will ring this week

Bells will start ringing around the Central Okanagan this week.

The Salvation Army kicks off its annual Christmas kettle campaign Thursday, 9 a.m., at the Community Life Centre on Rutland Road.

"This is our opportunity to showcase our Community Life Centre operations," said communications co-ordinator Patty Lou Bryant.

"There are many in our community who are not aware of the scope of what we do at the Community Life Centre, and so we would like to take this opportunity to share about our operations. From our casework offices and classroom facilities, to our commercial kitchen and food bank operations, this is a very active facility that is impacting our community on a daily basis."

Last year, the Salvation Army assisted more than 600 local families through its Christmas food and toy program. This in addition to regular assistance provided through Community Life Centres in Rutland and Westbank.

Funds raised through the kettle campaign allow the Salvation Army to continue to support those in need through the Christmas season.
