Fentanyl, illicit drug bust

RCMP have caught a group of drug traffickers that were supplying cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin mixed with opioids in Vernon. 

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP spent numerous weeks investigating the four people across the Okanagan and resulted in seizing 118 packages of methamphetamine, 666 packages of cocaine and 753 heroin fantasy opioid mix packages.

"This seizure will have a significant impact on the drug supply to the Vernon area and is a good example of enforcement action by the RCMP in targeting those responsible for distributing fentanyl and other illicit drugs in our community,” said Sgt. David Evans.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Aug. 29 for allegedly supplying drugs on the street level in Vernon.

He has been charged with possession of cocaine, heroin fentanyl mixed opioid for the purpose of trafficking. The teen is on conditions to reside in the Lower Mainland and is expected to appear in court.

A 29-year-old Vernon woman and 21-year-old Lower Mainland man were arrested on Oct. 27. They are both expected to appear in court to face charges of possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin/fentanyl mixed opioid for the purpose of trafficking.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man in Kelowna for allegedly supplying drugs in Vernon.

A search warrant for his alleged condo on Academy Way Kelowna and a condo in the 3500 block Woodsdale Road in Lake Country was conducted by police.

Officers found and seized multiple ounces of cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin/fentanyl mixed opioid packaged for street level distribution along with cash and other items related to drug trafficking. 

He is expected to appear in court on Nov. 3 to face charges of possession of three drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
