24/7 closure of Valley Road

Until further notice, Valley Road between Kane and Yates roads is closed around the clock.

The city cites safety concerns for the 24-hour closure.

The stretch of road has been closed from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. since Oct. 11 for construction.

However, city officials say construction has turned out to be more extensive than initially thought, necessitating the closure to protect public safety.

Crews are diverting Brandt's Creek for construction of a creek retaining wall, curbing and sidewalks.

Residents of the area will be allowed in and out of their property.

People in the area are asked to obey signage and traffic safety personnel while efforts are made to minimize the impact on motorists, residents and businesses..

Work is expected to be concluded Nov. 4.
