Shots fired, 2 injured

UPDATE 2:50 P.M.

Two males near Nelson Avenue on the North Shore were found just before 12 p.m. with gunshot injuries.

Both victims were transported in ambulance to a nearby hospital.

It is unknown how serious the injuries are. 

Police believe the shooting incident happened at 217 Nelson Avenue, a residence well known to police.  Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit, General Duty, Target Enforcement Unit and the Police Dog Unit are in the area continuing their investigation. 

Kamloops RCMP are requesting that the public avoid the area of Nelson Avenue at this time.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting on Nelson Avenue or has surveillance cameras in the area to please contact the Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers.


Numerous RCMP officers are investigating after shots were fired in Kamloops.

Gunfire was heard about 11:40 a.m. Monday near Nelson Avenue on Kamloops' North Shore.

A man was found with injuries at a McDonald’s restaurant near Northhills Mall, but it is not clear if that is related to the shots heard. He was taken to a medical facility by ambulance.

Arthur Hatton School was placed on hold-and-secure by police, as it is only a few blocks away from the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and RCMP said the situation is fluid.
