Oktoberfest this weekend

Penticton's eighth annual Oktoberfest takes place Saturday and is expected to bring in large crowds.

The Penticton Trade and Convention centre will be transformed into Munich’s well-known Hofbrauhaus on Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.

"It's a really great night. It's a mix of young people, older people and everybody gets out and has a heck of a good time," said Barbara Schneiderat, co-chair, adding the bands are incredible.

The event will feature a variety of wine, ciders and of course, German and local beers and authentic European food.

"This year the funds that we raise will go towards naming a room at the new regional hospital in Penticton," Schneiderat said.

There will be plenty of parking available for all guests, according to Schneiderat and if you wish to park somewhere close by there will be free shuttle service available following the event.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and guest's can stay and party until just after midnight.

Tickets are available online for $35 and include a souvenir tasting mug and your first drink.
