High winds divert flights

The high winds buffeting the Okanagan Valley have caused flight cancellations and diversions at the Kelowna and Penticton airports.

WestJet spokesperson Lauren Stewart says three flights were diverted from Kelowna Tuesday, two being sent to Vancouver and one to Edmonton. In Penticton, WestJet cancelled one flight in and out of Calgary.

“These guests will be reaccomodated on an extra sections tomorrow morning,” she said in an email.

Passengers are being urged to check their flight status online before departing from either airport.
