Cheers to Brewphoria

Alanna Kelly

Twelve breweries from across the Okanagan are joining together in Kelowna for a night of craft beer.

The second annual Brewphoria, hosted by Tree Brewing Beer Institute, has brewmasters coming from Penticton, all the way to Kamloops.

Each was asked to brew a unique cask that will be tapped Thursday evening.

“We tap them all here. (The) only time and place you can try those beers is right here at the Beer Institute,” said Chris Stirling, general manager of Tree Brewing.

Tree has been in Kelowna since 1996, and Stirling said it has been great seeing fellow craft breweries grow.

“A lot of people think we are only in wine country. It is an opportunity to showcase what we can do, all in the Okanangan,” he said.

Brewmasters were given the opportunity to make whatever they wanted.

“Just make a cask everyone will like and bring them on down,” said Stirling.

Tickets sold out within a week, and 150 people are expected to get their hands on the one-off brews.
