In search of school vandals

RCMP are investigating the weekend vandalism of the front lawn at Rutland Elementary School.

Police were alerted to the act of mischief on Saturday afternoon.

The full extent of the damage and cost to repair it is not yet known.

“School officials discovered the vandalism over the weekend and are working with police to identify the person or persons responsible for the damage,” says RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Our investigators are interested in hearing from anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed any suspicious vehicles seen in the area of the elementary school during the evening hours of Oct. 13, overnight or during the early morning hours of Oct. 14.”

Vandals have trashed the front lawn at Rutland Elementary School in Kelowna.

Someone drove onto the grass at the corner of Webster and Craig roads and spun doughnuts in the lawn, chewing up sod and carving circles.

Mud and sod was seen sprayed onto the sidewalk and roadway.

A Castanet tipster provided photos of the damage and says a police report has been filed. 

No other details are known at this time.
