Linked sex assaults in park

Surrey RCMP are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect connected to a sexual assault.

A woman was walking her dogs in Hi-Knoll Park near 196th Street and Colebrook Road on Sept. 13, at about 6:15 p.m. when she was grabbed from behind by a male and thrown to the ground with the male landing on top of her.

The woman, 44 years old, was able to get the man off her and police said she was not physically injured.

“Sexual assaults are very disturbing to the community,” said Corp. Scotty Schumann.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his late teens, five-foot-eight, has a skinny build, chin-length, shaggy, dark brown hair. He was seen wearing a dark coloured hoodie.

Police discovered two incidents involving a suspicious person around the same time and location, that they believe are related.

“Our investigators are working diligently on this file but need help from the public. If you recognize the persons depicted in the composite drawings, or if they resemble someone you know, investigators want to hear from you right away,” said Schumann.

RCMP Forensic Artist created composite drawings in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
