A man in Vancouver was rushed to hospital in critical condition after being shot by police on Saturday.
Vancouver police officers were confronted by the man, who was reportedly in a distraught state and approached the officers with a weapon.
"Police officers attempted to negotiate with the man and used less-lethal options to disarm him but subsequently shot the man," the Vancouver Police Department said in a press release.
The shooting incident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m., near West 18th Avenue and Manitoba Street.
The officers were not injured.
B.C.'s Independent Investigations Office is currently investigating.
