Transit changes coming

The City of Vernon, in partnership with BC Transit, is making some changes to the bus system and they want to know what people think.

The city will be altering some routes, adding a new route and increasing service by 7,000 hours annually.

To collect public feedback, a series of informational meetings have been held with the final one planned for today at the RespectFEST event in Civic Plaza.

Ellen Morrison, City of Vernon transportation planner, said the city also plans to increase transit service by 7,000 hours annually.

“We're just looking for public feedback on proposed changes to Vernon's transit weekend,” said Morrrison.

Along with attending the informational session today, residents can go online to fill out a survey on the proposed changes.

The online survey will be available through Oct. 6.

“There are also hard copies available for anyone who does not have access to the Internet,” said Morrison. “They can get a hard copy from the community services building, which is the old library (across from the museum.)”
