An RCMP officer and another driver were sent to hospital after a collision on Lougheed Highway in Port Coquitlam early Friday.

The police cruiser collided with another vehicle just before 6 a.m. while the officer was responding to an emergency call.

The force is looking into whether the cruiser's lights and sirens were activated at the time.

The crash blocked westbound traffic for several hours.

Both drivers' injuries were considered minor.
