IH gets new board chair

The provincial government has appointed three news members to the Interior Health board of directors.

Dr. Doug Cochrane has been appointed board chair, replacing outgoing chair John O'Fee.

Dr. Selena Lawrie and Cindy Stewart have also been named to the board.

"Congratulations to Interior Health's new board chair and members," said Health Minister Adrian Dix. "They have significant experience in health care and their dedication to their communities will contribute to our goal as a government to provide leadership for a strong public health-care system in British Columbia."

Dix says Cochrane will be able to use his experience within the health-care system to enhance the care offered throughout the IH region.

Cochrane is a former chair of the B.C. Patient Safety and Quality Council.

Health authority boards are responsible for the governance and management of health services. They work with health authority leadership to establish the organization's overall vision and ensure there is appropriate community consultation.
