Kelowna's Judy Lloyd just missed out on her goal of a podium finish at the recently completed International Triathlon Union world championships.
Lloyd finished fourth in the 70 to 74 age group sprint event in one hour, 49 minutes and 58 seconds at the event in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Her time was just 39 seconds slower than the third place American competitor.
“I was happy with my overall time, but my goal was to get to the podium, and I have been working very hard with my coach Rob Swan to make this happen. I guess I need to work on my run.”
Lloyd, 70, came out of the water in fourth place, and moved up to third after the bike and transition, but was unable to hold on to a spot on the podium in the final run leg of the race.
Canada sent a team of 360 athletes to the event.
It was Lloyd's seventh ITU age group world championship.
