Help design downtown

The City of Kelowna is asking for public input in designing new street furniture.

Residents have the opportunity to provide input that will be used to transform parts of downtown and make it easier to get around.

Street furniture, such as benches, trash receptacles, bike racks and traffic bollards are all planned in what the city is calling the cultural, waterfront, residential, business, historic and entertainment districts of downtown.

“Co-ordinating these streetscape elements will help promote the districts’ unique identities and make them more comfortable and inviting places to be,” said planner specialist David James.

“It will also avoid a hodgepodge of different styles and colours and result in a more unified streetscape.”

Residents have until Oct. 8 to provide online feedback on what the elements should look like and where they should be installed.
