Richmond RCMP are investigating after a driver committed a handful of offences behind the wheel on Monday afternoon.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., the Richmond RCMP stopped a brown 2005 Audi sedan after the driver was seen using a handheld device.
The driver stopped, but suddenly turned and struck an officer, then continued down Alderbridge Way. The officer who was hit was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Audi then hit a police vehicle that was trying to stop it, also crashing into a civilian vehicle.
After fleeing the area, the Audi was found abandoned later that night in Vancouver.
RCMP have identified a suspect, and the abandoned Audi is being further inspected by officials.
