A 16-year-old girl is facing several charges after leading an assault on a pair of Penticton RCMP officers.
Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said police were dealing with a large group of youth on Winnipeg Street Sunday at about 1 a.m.
A 17-year-old male was swearing and yelling loudly, causing officers to arrest him. A 16-year-old female then interfered, kicking one of the police officers in the head.
“Numerous youths swarmed the police,” Wrigglesworth said, noting the girl was in possession of bear-spray, in breach of her probation order.
The girl was charged with assaulting two police officers, obstruction, causing a disturbance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation.
The 17-year-old male was charged with causing a disturbance and resisting arrest.
