Wine in the mountains

The lineup was long as eager patrons converged on the hill to sip and savour the best of what the Okanagan wine industry has to offer.

Wineries from throughout the valley poured tasters and local food vendors also shared samples of their wares.

Live music filled the mountain air at Canada’s highest outdoor wine and music event, and the outdoor celebration was followed by a wine master's dinner.

The high elevation and a light breeze provided a break from smoky skies in the valley, though threatening clouds did deliver a rain shower towards the end of the event. Still, it didn't dampen people's enthusiasm for the samples on offer, as patrons excitedly compared notes on wines as they milled from booth to booth.

“The outdoors, the big Okanagan sky, and an amazing village setting at Silver Star all lend themselves to an incredible venue for this event," Blair Baldwin, general manager of the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society, said prior to the event.
