Pup eats drugs in park

A Vancouver couple's dog is recovering at a veterinary hospital after ingesting drugs during a visit to Stanley Park.

The 12-week-old Bichon Frise pup almost died after it swallowed drugs including ketamine and PCP near Third Beach, Sunday.

"It could be lethal," owner Steven Maksymyk told CTV. "It's horrifying. Public parks are for people to take their dogs, their kids to have fun. To have a puppy consume an illegal toxin is bad enough, never mind that it could have also been a toddler."

When Floffy started vomiting and staggering, Maksymyk thought she might be overheated, and was shocked to learn she had drugs in her system.

The incident has been reported to police.
