Fire evacuations continue

While Williams Lake and 100 Mile House residents have been allowed back to their homes, wildfires continue to force others from their properties.

The Cariboo Regional District issued an evacuation order for the Clisbako area, about 100 kilometres west of Quesnel, Thursday evening.

The order expands on an existing evacuation order for the area.

A map of the evacuation area can be found here. The evacuation route from the area is along Blackwater Road to Quesnel.

Additionally, an evacuation alert has been expanded for the Blackwater River area, just north of the Clisbako evacuation.

Earlier in the afternoon, a wind warning was issued for the Cariboo Fire Centre, with gusts of up to 70 km/h and lightning forecast for the region.

"Winds of this speed will cause an increase in fire behaviour and can cause unstable trees to come down," said Natasha Broznitsky, fire information officer.
