Final evac orders lifted

The final evacuation orders for residents forced from their homes by the Princeton wildfire have been lifted.

As of 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the evacuation orders for 19 properties along Summer's Creek Rd. have changed to an advisory alert.

Access to properties on Summer’s Creek Rd. will be regulated, in an organized manner to allow for fire crews to conduct clean-up operations. A Local State of Emergency is still in place for Princeton and the close surrounding area.

All property owners and residents are asked to stay well back from crews and not interfere with their work. Fire crews have the right to enter private property to fight the wildfire, if need be.

The speed limit will be lowered to 30 kmh in that area.

Summers Creek Rd. residents will require clearance letters supplied by the Regional District to be allowed to go back to their properties.

Letters can be obtained from the Princeton Resiliency Centre located at Princeton Senior’s Centre at 162 Angela Ave. The centre is open until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen Thursday at 9:00 a.m.

Evacuation alerts have been also rescinded for two properties: the Tulahead Campground and a residential property 1815, Hwy 5A.
