UPDATE: 2:25 p.m.

RCMP say the victim in a Chilliwack shooting has died from his injuries and that the attack appears to be targeted.

Police responded to the Progress Way scene about 9 a.m.  

The male victim was taken to hospital by ambulance, but later died.

The investigation has been handed over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

UPDATE: 12:55 p.m.

Members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team have arrived at the scene of an apparent shooting in Chilliwack.

A worker at a nearby gas station told CTV he heard gunshots, then saw three vehicles speeding away.

An abandoned vehicle was found on fire under the nearby Vedder Bridge not long after the incident.

A heavy police presence is reported in Chilliwack, at the scene of an apparent shooting.

RCMP have cordoned off an area around a bullet-riddled Audi in a parking lot on Progress Way.

Evidence markers can be seen on the ground.
