Snoozing in getaway car

RCMP arrived on scene to a break-and-enter in process and found a woman fast asleep in the getaway vehicle.

Officers responded to an alarm going off at a business on the 3400 block of Louie Drive about 2 a.m. on Saturday.

“West Kelowna RCMP officers set up a perimeter around the building and, with the assistance of a police canine unit ... created a diversion which ultimately caused the suspect to flee through the holes he allegedly made in the interior walls between businesses,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

A 53-year-old Edmonton man was taken into custody over the long weekend and was expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

An Edmonton woman was identified as the woman sleeping in the vehicle and was the man's alleged accomplice. She was released without charge.
