Farmers' Market ready

The Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market celebrates 22 years this week, when the outdoor version of the popular market opens on Saturday.

The market was open throughout the winter on Saturdays in the Parkinsons Recreation Centre, and typically returns to its outdoor location the first Wednesday or Saturday of April.

Longtime market shoppers can expect the same types of produce, fruit, baked goods and crafts, but this year there will also be a few special events.

Market Coordinador Frances Callaghan says residents should expect an exciting opening.

"It's our official opening of the season on April 1. We are looking forward to another great season. People can expect a lot of new events coming. There will be prizes, and we will be going all out on a number of holidays."

This winter has brought a lot of cold and snow and Callaghan says they are ready for it all.

"We try very hard to make sure everyone is looked after. Most farmers know what to expect because they have to be outside in the different weather. We adapt accordingly to it all."

The Farmers market is every Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
