The highway has re-opened both directions, according to DriveBC.

UPDATE: 6:18 p.m.

Highway 97 remains closed in both directions 5 km north of Westwold because of a vehicle incident.

There is a detour available via Highway 97A, Highway 97B or Highway 1.

The estimated time of opening is 9 p.m.

Highway 97 is closed in both directions near Monte Lake due to a vehicle crash in the area.

The crash occurred about five kilometres south of Monte Lake before 3 p.m. Saturday.

DriveBC says northbound traffic can detour around the crash using Chase-Falkland Road, but there is no detour available for southbound traffic.

An assessment is currently underway, but DriveBC has no estimate as to when the road may reopen.
