UPDATE: 8:45 a.m.

Construction workers milled about as fire crews battled a blaze at a townhouse under construction in downtown Kelowna Wednesday morning.

Witnesses said flames could be seen shooting from the shingled roof on the wood-frame structure after construction crews were ordered out of the building.

The fire started just after 7 a.m., and by 8 a.m., small flames were lazily burning on the roof and firefighters were inside the building assessing the fire.

One woman said a person may have been pulled from the building. However, no officials on site were able to confirm that information.

Numerous police had set up a roadblock to keep people away. Paramedics were also on site.
