Overcharged for fuel

If you gassed up at Chevron recently, you may have paid too much.

The petroleum company is alerting B.C. motorists that if they filled up with premium during the past few days, they may have gotten a lower grade fuel instead.

Chevron says regular 87-octane gas was mistakenly blended into its premium fuel between Sept. 8 and 10 at more than 50 B.C. service stations.

Okanagan, Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley gas stations were affected by the error, and the company has halted the sale of premium gas at those locations.

“Chevron is committed to resolving this issue with its customers and we are working to establish an information hotline to provide further details,” the company says on its website.

The list of cities with affected gas stations includes Vernon, Kelowna, Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Abbotsford, Aldergrove, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Hope, Langley, Mission, Powell River, Richmond and Surrey.
