UPDATE 11:35 A.M.

FortisBC says initial repairs are now complete and power has been restored to most customers in Kelowna, but some are still affected.

It is asking those still without power to call the company at 1-866-436-7847.

UPDATE 10:35 A.M.

About 500 customers in the Pandosy Village area remain without power following a widespread outage that affected a large portion of Kelowna.

While a cause has not been pinpointed FortisBC officials say crews believe they have identified where repairs need to be made.

No word when power will be restored for those still affected.

More information is expected shortly.

UPDATE 10:30 A.M.

FortisBC reports power has been restored to the majority of customers in Kelowna. 

However, several calls into the newsroom say power is still out to those around the Pandosy Village area. 

FortisBC says the cause of the outage is currently under investigation. 

ORIGINAL 9:00 A.M.

Power is out in numerous areas in Kelowna.

We have heard from people in and around Kelowna General Hospital, the Capri Mall, downtown, Rutland and Springvalley that power is out in those areas.

FortisBC has mobilized crews however, they have yet to determine the cause or how widespread the outage is.

There is no estimated time of reconnection.
