100 Kids Who Care Launches Sept 13th at The Innovation Centre On Ellis Street

Sep 13, 2017

100 KIDS WHO CARE KELOWNA is launching on September 13, 2017 from 5-630pm at the new Innovation Centre on Ellis Street.

Following in the footsteps of the local 100 Men Who Give a Damn and the 100 Women Who Care groups is the 100 Kids Who Care Kelowna www.100kidskelowna.com. 100 Kids ages 5-17 will meet 4 times a year to nominate their favorite charity and then vote on a winner and donate $10 of their own hard earned or saved money to a local charity or community group. Making a difference, public speaking, access to community leaders and networking with their peers are the underpinnings of the 100 Kids Movement.

The launch event features an overview of the program from Founders Richard and MaryAnn Deacon and a hello from the first local member Reston James Deacon age 6, a welcome from Kelowna Mayor Basran, words of inspiration from Lane Merrifield, roll out of our new 100 Kids app and a fun kid friendly party on the rooftop of the new Innovation Centre.

"Founder Richard James Deacon was inspired after visiting a 100 Kids Group in Calgary and worked with the Calgary Founder to create 100 Kids Kelowna. As a member of the 100 Men groups in Kelowna and Vancouver I was inspired but what collaboration can do in a community and wanted to give our sons and their friends a chance to get together and do some good. Over 75 kids have already signed up and we are expecting a full house."
