I would like to give a huge shout out to the amazing staff, sponsors and membership of Sunset Ranch Golf and Country Club!!
Last night; Wednesday May 25th they had the largest turnout ever to a Men's Night and raised over $5000 for ALS BC in memory of one of their own Rick Whittaker. He was a member for 23 years and lost his battle to ALS in March.
ALS receives no government funding as other chairities and reserch do, except for a small amount that they apply for from gaming funds. It's all raised through private and corporate donation.
Last fall the disease began to challenge Rick physically and ALS BC was there to supply a continuing flow of equipment enabling him to continue past each hurdle and remain home as long as possible.
The Staff at Sunset Ranch wanted to help give back and held their largest Mens Night in his honor.
Soon they had the sponsors on board and the membership spread the word to other local golfers. The weather held out and we had an amazing day!!
The golfing community is pretty special and that's why Rick loved the game so much.
