1-800-GOT-JUNK?’s Free Electronic Disposal Event in Kelowna
Do your part this Earth Day to help reduce e-waste! Plus, take advantage of on-site shredding services and donate non-perishables to the Kelowna Food Bank
When: Saturday, April 23rd from 9 AM - 1 PM
Where: 1000 KLO Rd, Kelowna – Okanagan College, Lot 17
What: 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Free Electronic Disposal Event in Kelowna
This year, to celebrate Earth Day, let’s all contribute to a greener city. At 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Kelowna, the emphasis will be on e-waste and recycling, as the company will hold a free electronics disposal event on Saturday, April 23.
Environment Canada says that 140,000 tonnes of old electronics are dumped in landfills every year across our country. With consumers replacing their gadgets at a faster rate than ever before and simply tossing out their old devices, this is a timely issue to highlight. And as e-waste doesn’t break down when it’s sent to the dump, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? wants to help Kelowna dispose of it responsibly.
In 2015, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and the people of Kelowna came together to recycle 7 tonnes of electronics, shred 2 tonnes of paper, and donate 280 lbs of food and over $400 to the Kelowna Food Bank. There is hope to exceed that amount this year!
The following items will be accepted for free recycling: TVs, computers and their components, printers, video game systems, cables, small kitchen appliances (mixers, coffee makers, microwave ovens, coffee grinders, electric grills, toasters, etc.), batteries (including car batteries)…and almost anything with a cable!
On-site shredding of confidential documents will also be available, provided by Okanagan Paper Shredding ($5/banker box) and there will be a chance to donate non-perishables to the Kelowna Food Bank.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? would like to thank this year’s partners, Planet Earth Recycling, Organizing Help, and Okanagan Paper Shredding.
