Celebrate Asian Heritage Month at the Community Showcase
On May 23, Kelowna’s Asian Heritage Month will be hosting a fun and family-oriented Community Showcase. The free event will take place at the Parkinson Recreation Centre from 6pm-9pm, and will feature a multitude of games, activities, and live performances. Authentic Asian cooking, an interactive costume photo booth, and a Chinese dragon dance demonstration will make for a jam-packed night.

The Community Showcase is open to visitors of all ages to enjoy and learn more about the diversity of Asian cultures in the Okanagan. “Bring the whole family for a wonderful evening of free entertainment and great food,” says Dr. Qiang-Hua Meng, Chair of the 2015 Asian Heritage Month Committee. "The Community Showcase is a way of sharing aspects of our different cultures with the community. It truly is a celebration."

In 2001, the Canadian government designated May as Asian Heritage Month to acknowledge the significant contributions of Asian Canadians to this nation. This is Kelowna’s fourth annual Asian Heritage Month, and its Community Showcase promises include more activities and performances than ever before.
