New Hybrid Operating Room to Reduce Patient Recovery Time
KELOWNA, BC – A generous donation of $10,000 from Warm Hearts Charitable Foundation will help Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) create a Hybrid Operating Room (OR) within the new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) currently being built on the KGH campus. Warm Hearts supports the health and wellbeing of communities close to the hearts of FortisBC employees and has donated over $500,000 to charitable organizations in the company’s service areas since 1994.
The Hybrid OR is one of the highest priority needs at KGH and will improve patient care by enabling teams of surgeons to perform combined minimally-invasive and traditional open surgical procedures in a single OR. The minimally-invasive techniques to be employed in the Hybrid OR will reduce patient recovery times from weeks to days, so they can get back to their loved ones sooner. The Hybrid OR will also spur surgical innovation and foster the ability for surgeons to think of new and different ways to care for patients requiring complex medical procedures.
KGH Foundation is extremely grateful to the Warm Hearts Charitable Foundation for its generosity and commitment to helping improve healthcare in the BC Interior.
