Turn on the summer glow

Summer is a time to turn on the glow, brighten up your makeup, and take extra care of your skin and hair.  Here are my top beauty essentials to get you through the heat, sweat, and chlorine this summer so you can look fresh, fun and put-together in everything from a white tank and denim cutoffs to a slinky cocktail dress!

Hair:

  • Marrakesh Oil: your hair can get dry from the sun, lake and pool give it extra love by applying a natural oil daily to wet or dry hair.
  • Davines Moisturizing Softening Leave-In Mist: invest in a spray on hair treatment for hot summer days to protect it from the sun. I love Davines because they are all natural.

Body

  • Bath and Body Works fragrance mist: trade in your perfume to a body mist for a lighter summer scent like citrus scents.
  • Soap & Glory Flake Away Spa Body Polish: Now is the time to take extra care of your skin by exfoliating regularly. You'll be amazed how much better your skin feels!
  • Benefit "talk to the tan": most people's face stays lighter than their bodies, so keep your face the same shade as your body by picking up a self tanner designed specifically for your face
  • Benefit Bathina: This silky glimmering body balm lets you leave your insecurities about your legs at the door.  Swipe it on your shins and upper thighs for a flawless finish.
  • Bath and Body Works Paris Amour Shimmer Body Cream: I love adding a little shimmer to my decloratage and shoulder blades.
  • Rose Bud Lip Balm: Moisturizes and softens the most sunburnt lips from a day at the beach.

Makeup:

  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: The perfect combination of natural colours that can give you a sweep of shimmering champagne for day, or a smokey bronze look for night. It's all you need for that summer holiday.
  • Benefit Coralista blush: nothing's better than a coral flush over tanned skin.
  • Garnier B.B Cream: No one wants to wear a thick coat of foundation out in this heat. Switch to a light weight B.B colour to get the even skin tone you want and the added protection that you need.
  • Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer: For days that you need extra coverage just add a dab of concealer to your B.B Cream or tinted moisturizer.
  • MAC Luster Drops: when added to your moisturizer or foundation, this product gives you that J.Lo glow.
  • Marcelle eyeliner in Blue Lagoon: When you are tired of neutrals, simply apply a swipe of turquoise eyeliner, the hottest shade to wear on your eyes this season.
  • Nars Copacabana mulitply: apply with a fan brush to anywhere the light would hit you on your face.  It's used by many celebrities as the secret to glowing skin.
  • MAC Refined Golden Bronzing Powder: sweep across forehead, nose, chine, and cheekbones to give you a chiselled and bronzed look like you just got back from a tropical vacation.
  • Revlon lipstick in Siren: The best way to amp up your wardrobe is with a bright coral lip.
  • NYX lipgloss in Golden Pink: The best lipstick and only a few dollars at the drugstore!
  • Wear these fun and hot shades of nail polish on your nails and toes for the accessory that often gets overlooked! L'Oreal in Jet Set, Revlon in Craving Coral, and Essie in Castaway.
