Summer shorts

Summer is definitely one of my favorite seasons for fashion.  It's easy to find clothing at super affordable prices, you can wear separates multiple ways, and the clothing comes in light weight fabrics, so you can pack a lot of different pieces into a small bag for your summer vacation! The one downside? I can sometimes be a bit difficult to look fresh and fashionable in the Okanagan heat.  When the weather hits the mid 30's, just the thought of layering and adding accessories can make a girl start to perspire.

When building your perfect summer outfit, start with the shorts.  This season shorts are coming in all lengths, colours, and patterns and can be dressed up or down. It's really the perfect wardrobe must-have for all of your summer activities.
My favorite way to plan my summer outfit is to take a specific style or theme and go from there:
Nautical: Start with a great pair of crisp white shorts.  Add a striped tank or light weight shirt. Top things off with nautical accessories like club masters, anchor jewellery, boat shoes and anything red.
Safari: Grab a pair of casual olive green cargo shorts and add on some animal print! Think leopard and zebra or both for a fun take on pattern mixing details on shoes and sunglasses make animal print mixing subtle and chic not over the top.  Accessorize with beaded and wooden jewellery.
Menswear:  I love pairing menswear elements to a pair of tailored shorts like a boyfriend blazer and oxfords.  To make it summer appropriate and girly add pops of colour and choose floral shorts!
