The bright blazer

The emergence of bright colours after a long dull winter is a sure sign that Spring has arrived! For this Spring, look for bold neons and pastel shades in stores, with many ways to incorporate them into your wardrobe: handbags, belts, jewellery, and shoes can all be worn to add that perfect amount of colour to your wardrobe.

I love to add colour to an outfit with a brightly-coloured blazer. Traditionally worn in neutral colours like black, white, and grey, the bright blazer is an easy way to add interest to your work outfit, or to add some sophistication to an otherwise casual outfit.  The bright blazer is surprisingly versatile; since the fit is tailored but the colour is fun, you can wear it with anything!

Even a bold colour like yellow, green, or pink can be worn with many different colours and prints. Although it may feel weird, don't over-think what to wear it with! I love it with an all black ensemble, adding it to bold prints, or colour blocking it with other bright colours.  Really, when it comes to the bright blazer, the only thing you want to avoid is looking too matchy-matchy.

When looking for a bright blazer, fit is everything.  Make sure it fits properly in the shoulders and hits either at your hip for a traditional look or mid thigh for the boyfriend look.  Most colours are in right now so go ahead and pick up a blazer in a bold neon hue if you're daring or a pastel color if you're a little more conservative.
