Head to toe in color!

I've talked before about the monochromatic look, and how I’m such a huge fan. Today I want to explore it a little bit more, with a few outfits that I styled from my closet.

It's true, wearing an entire color from H to T (like Tyra Banks says!) is on trend at the moment.  Make no mistake, this is a bold look; we walk a fine line between chic and matchy-matchy with this look. I'm convinced that we can stay on the chic side of that line!

Most people should be able to try this trend with items in their closet.  First, pick the color you'd like to blast.  Choose a brighter color like pink or purple if you really want to stand out, or choose a neutral like grey or navy if you’d like a more subtle nod to this trend. Layering pieces such as jackets, blouses, and sweaters work great, and pair them with similar toned bottoms like shorts, tights, jeans, or dresses.  Add the same color with your accessories like your purse, shoes, scarves, and even jewelry. If you're like me, you can go as far as painting your lips a similar shade.

Bold in Red: Every woman needs a LBD (little black dress) in her wardrobe, but I'd argue a LRD (little red dress) is just as vital! I love addition of red pumps and a red bag for a perfect going out look; red is one of those colors that really looks great when all the pieces match. I added a toggle jacket and a chunky infinity scarf for added warmth, and finished off the look with bright red lips and some cherry red nails!  This outfit could also be worn with tights and a cardigan or pullover for a day time look.

Cranberry wine: Cranberry is my favorite color of the season! Adding a sweater or t-shirt in the same shade as your colored jeans is a easy way to try this look when you're running out the door. Accessorize this look with berry lips and some gold jewelry and a satchel in a similar shade. Try adding a white t-shirt with your pants and blazer, or add a neutral pant and keep everything else in the same color pallet if you're hesitant to go all the way with this trend.

Going nude: Nude is still going strong from the summer season, and is a great way to work the neutral trend as well as the monochromatic one. Nudes, ivories, blushes, and crèmes all work together for a soft and romantic take on the one tone trend.

School boy blue: A really easy way to try this trend is to go for Navy Blue. Dark denim jeans are your perfect starting point for this look, followed by similar colors up top.  Since this outfit is fairly dark, I focused on mixing different textures so there was interest in the head to toe blue. Mixing denim, lace, knits, and cotton turn this could-be-boring trend into an interesting one-hue ensemble.
