ZIMMERMANN, Sandy

Sandy, born in Kelowna on May 26, 1949, passed away, after a brief battle with cancer, at the Kelowna Hospice House on September 25, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband Gerry and his three children Nikki (Justin), Chris (Jenine) and Sarah (Rod), her two sons Chris (Holly) Braun and Jeff Ritchey, seven grandchildren and two brothers Ron (Michele) Robertson and Grant (Sharon) Robertson.

To all of Sandy's family, I have know Sandy over the many years when I would take my mom and dad to the pharmacy and there was that amazing smile to greet us every time. She was such a warm hearted person who cared about all who came to her counter. I am so sad to hear of this news as I had hoped she would be able to enjoy her "golden time" with Gerry. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Sandy at Lakeside in my years as a new pharmacist. I learned many things at Lakeside but most important was customer service. Sandy knew everyone by name and always had time for a quick chat. Something I expect from staff as we work daily. I always enjoyed the great fun we had working together. I have racked my brain trying to come up with words that could even come close to expressing how saddened we are for all of Sandy's family. There just are none. There are also no words that could convey how much the 35 plus years we spent together at work and socially have meant to me and my family. She has been a co-worker, a friend, a confidant, and a shoulder when needed, and a constant source of fun and laughs. The world has lost a truly good person. She will always be in our hearts.

I saw Sandy only a few weeks ago when Gerry and her stopped at the pharmacy. A huge loss with her passing. Sandy and my mother worked together in the drugstore for years. I was crushed when she told me of her illness. Even in her worst moment that day she was a breath of fresh air. Our deepest sympathies to the family.

Gerry and families, we grieve with you for the loss of dear Sandy. She was an integral part of our lives from the time we hired her at Kelowna Pharmacy in 1966, until we sold the store in 1975 and later hired by Ron and Fred. The term "you would be crazy not to hire Sandy" comes to mind. She was a wonderful asset to our store, the community, and all who knew her. Gerry and Family, I don't know how to put in to words how much I will miss my dear friend. Sandy worked for Ron and I and Fred and Dianna from when we were all in our twenties. We all shared a wonderful friendship with her and still did until her passing. I feel as though I have lost a sister so I understand your grief as well. She is now at peace but will be forever in our hearts.

Heartfelt condolences to Gerry and family and especially her son Jeff.

I knew Sandy from what now seems like a different lifetime ago - I grew up in my elementary school years having been best friends with one of her sons, Jeff. I spent many, many a days after school and over nights for sleepovers having been welcomed into her home for meals and kind care.

While I was usually part of some neighbourhood hijinks, she was always a glowing example of someone who was positive and saw the best in people. I wasn't fortunate to have crossed her path for a long time but I know she will missed by many.

Sandy and I were close friends growing up. Many a weekend we spent at Robertson's Clothing looking after her brothers. She was always so much fun to be around. Over the years I have run into her and she never changed. So sorry for your loss Gerry and family.
