WARREN, Albert William (Al) - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14th, 2011 at the age of 88.

Al is survived by son, Ken (Diana), of Kelowna; daughter-in-law, Patricia, of Ottawa; grandchildren, Dannielle (Darren), of Delta, Michelle, of Kelowna, Darryl (Jill), of Calgary, Melanie (Tom), of Ottawa; and great grandchildren, Cameron and Jamie, of Delta, Sarah and Spencer, of Kelowna, and Tyler, Gabi and Emma, of Ottawa. Al is predeceased by his wife, Eleanor, who passed away in 1985, daughter-in-law, Myra, in 2007, and son, Barry, in 2009.

Al was born in Winnipeg, and always remained a true Manitoban. Al was a proud veteran who served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War from 1939 to 1945. After the war, he returned to Manitoba where he helped raise his family and settled into his life enjoying camping, fishing, golfing and hockey. Al worked for Shell Oil for 30 years, and ended his business career in Calgary where he retired in the late 70’s. Al and his wife traveled in their retirement and settled in the interior of BC soon after to further enjoy gardening, golfing, watching endless hockey games and spending time with their grandchildren. Our family thanks Dr. Gore for his care and the staff at Kelowna Hospice for their compassion and understanding during Al’s final three weeks.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday June 21st , 2011 at 11:30 am at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave.
