WAKELY, Kent - Was born on January 3, 1925 in Roland, Manitoba to Charles and Gertrude Wakely. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and went off to serve in World War II. He served on the HMS Huntsville, where he crossed the Atlantic 14 times escorting supply ships. He was very proud of his service to his country. In the last year, he served as the Membership Chairman of the Canadian Naval Association.

Kent loved to work; he was a miner, a transit bus driver, a part-time sheep farmer, a carpenter and an apartment manager. He always found time to visit with the people he met during his duties. Kent was very dedicated to the AA Association. He was a member since January 3, 1983. He was always on call for a friend and would be there for his fellow members when ever he was called.

Kent loved his family very much and was proud of all his children, grand children and his great grand children. He always had pictures of everyone in albums and around the house. He was very faithful in sending birthday and Christmas cards to all his friends and family.

Kent is survived by his wife and best friend, Frances Mynett. He is also survived by his daughter Charlotte (Ken) Berg their son Kenny(Roberta) Berg their daughter Laura Harrison, great granddaughters: Katlin and Teagan. His four sons: Charles (Natalie ) Wakely; Cliff Wakely; Richard Wakely his daughters: Michelle (Sheldon) Stuttard, and Jeannine Wakely, (Jon Edgell) and great grandchildren: Darien and Drew; James (Donna) Wakely, children: David Wakely and Jenifer (Sean) Rutledge.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC with Reverend Dick Fletcher officiating.
