TRAUB, Doreen Mabel Theresa

Doreen Traub
1932 - 2017

Our beloved Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma Doreen Mabel Theresa Traub (nee Wolfe) passed away surrounded by family at Lakeview Lodge in West Kelowna Tuesday, August 29, 2017.

Doreen is now sitting at a beautifully set table in heaven, reunited with her sweetheart Lavern, in the presence of Jesus.

Last Tuesday, we said goodbye to Mom one final time after the siblings waited vigil with family members for several days. Her final journey was more a marathon than a sprint, and we are grateful for the wonderful nurses and staff who genuinely cared for and loved Mom right to her last breath.

Family members were there to hold Mom's hand, talk to her and sing her favourite songs. That's what love does.

Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Lavern, on November 10, 2016, as well as by her brother John and sister Leona.

Surviving Doreen are her four children: son Cam (Heather), and daughters Patti (Dean), Marilyn (Al) and Melonie; grandchildren: Chantel (Mark), Elizabeth (Alonso) and Chyenne; Jon, James and Jill; Jessica, Danielle, and Mariah; Dylan and Spencer; and two great-grandchildren Ainsley and Benson. Also remembering Doreen are her sisters Elaine (Henry) Dirksen, Joyce Wolfe, and Marilyn (Hank) Willms.

Doreen was born to Karl and Millie Wolfe on March 17, 1932, in Bateman, Saskatchewan (SK), and spent most of her growing up years in Gravelbourg, SK. She and her sister Elaine left for the bright lights of Moose Jaw, SK, to attend nursing school. Graduating in 1954, Doreen travelled west to attend Mountain View Bible School in Didsbury, (AB). It was there that she met the handsome young pianist Lavern Traub, who would capture her heart and be her lifelong Rook and kitchen partner. The young couple married on August 30, 1958 and settled in Didsbury to raise their family of four.

Doreen nursed at the Didsbury General Hospital for nearly 20 years, and she especially loved tending the new babies. She and Lavern enjoyed hosting friends, family and newcomers to share a meal and always a game of some sort afterward. Her tables were always beautifully set, the meals were always delicious, and there was often singing. At Lavern

I will always remember the wonderful meals, the love, and compassion that Doreen had for so many of us at westbank Missionary Church where we first met. Both her and Laverne will always have a special place in my heart. God bless you Patti and Dean and family. May they both rest in peace. Teresa Savard and Helen Lott
